Biography

Dr. Taner Yılmaz received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2005 and in 2008, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, with emphasis on Structural Engineering, from The Pennsylvania State University in 2015. In his Ph.D. thesis, he investigated the risk of highway bridges under multiple hazard effect of flood-induced scour and earthquake. Prior to joining Ozyegin University, he worked as a research assistant at The Pennsylvania State University between 2011 and 2015. Previously, he worked as a teaching assistant at Middle East Technical University and as a structural engineer in project design companies in Turkey. Dr. Yılmaz’s academic focus is mainly on structural and earthquake engineering and risk and reliability assessment of structures. His research interests include structural performance assessment under multiple hazards and resilient and sustainable infrastructures at component and system levels.
