Doktora Yeterlilik Sınavı

Exam Procedure

  • The exam has two parts, namely, a written exam and an oral exam.
  • The purpose of the written exam is to measure the breadth of the student’s knowledge in EE. There will be questions from the below five different areas of the EE discipline. The student’s written exam score will be calculated based on his/her top three area scores. Each area will have equal weight towards determining the final written exam score.
  • The purpose of the oral exam is to measure the depth of the student’s knowledge in his/her Ph.D. research area. The student will submit a short (maximum one page) statement describing his research field of interest. The student will be expected to answer technical questions related to his/her research field in front of an oral exam jury. The oral exam jury will be formed by at least five faculty members (2 of the jury members must be from another University) based on the research field of the student. Student’s advisor may participate in the oral exam jury. If a student has 2 advisors, co-advisor of the student may participate to the jury as the 6th member but he/she does not have the right to vote.
